Lesson #11 Personal protection and Data protection

Image
This is our last lesson and it involves Personal Protection and Data protection . It is one of the most important issues to consider when using any kind of device. As educators we will have an important role and our knowledge on internet safety is essential. Also it must be constinously updated due to rapid changes in internet use and behaviour. Here are some guidelines to keep our navigating space safe We should always be on guard. Some elements to bear in mind are the following to keep track of the security in our devices: 1. Control measures : •Device access: Unlock code, facial recognition, visual pattern, fingerprint. •Shared data: Bluetooth, manage location •Remote in case of theft or loss •External memory 2. The importance of security patches and updates :           •Malware: Malicious program that seeks to obtain personal data and money. •Antivirus and Malware Detection Tool 3. Backups: •Use an external disk. •Through synchronized cloud storage (OneDrive, Dropbo

Lesson #3 Digital content, information evaluation and licensing

First of all we learnt how to differentiate two types of software: free or private.    Private : any computer program in which the end user has limitations to its use, modification or redistribution (with or without modification), or whose source code is not available or access to it is restricted by a license agreement, or by copy - protection technology. Free software is software that gives users the freedom to share, study and modify their own software . In order for a software to be called free it has to gather the following characteristics:  Run it : Freedom to use the program for any purpose .   Change it . Freedom to study how the program works and adapt it to your needs .   Redistribute it . Freedom to distribute copies, so you can help your neighbor.   Redistribute with changes . Freedom to improve the programme and make improvements public to others .     Regarding its functions it can be either s ystem software ( operating system , file management utilities , disk ope

Lesson #2 Cloud data storage and retrieval

Image
In this lesson we have become familiar with CLOUD COMPUTING which can be defined as: A model for managing , storing and processing Data Online via The Internet. We have learned that there are different types: • A Public Cloud is maintained and managed by third parties not related to the organization. In this type of cloud, data and processes from multiple clients are mixed in servers, storage systems and other cloud infrastructures.   • Private Clouds are a good option for companies that need high data protection and service - level issues. Private clouds are on - demand infrastructure, managed for a single client that controls which applications should run where.   • Hybrid clouds combine public and private cloud models. A user owns some parts and shares others, albeit in a controlled way. Hybrid clouds offer the promise of scaling, externally provisioned, on - demand, but add the complexity of determining how to deploy applications across these different environments.   Ther

Lesson #1 Navigation and Search

Image
-We have reflected on the concepts of basic terms such as: the internet, web, website, web browser, search engine. -We have also learned how to use bookmarks for a personalized use of the internet. -What I retain are the tips that can be used when searching on a web browser :  As well as being able to do an Advanced Search we can also use the following words for further accuracy in our search. We can use AND if we want all of the words that we put in our search be included in our findings Or we can use OR if we want two or more terms to appear, not necessarily together. We can also exclude specific terms from our search by using - which means WITHOUT THE WORDS To find results with a specific sentence word by word we can put it in brackets: " Abracadabra said she "  The I'm feeling lucky button grants that the search results page goes directly to the first ranked page for the search phrase you enter. I have created a personal account in Diigo. And within Diigo I created a
