Image
This is our last lesson and it involves Personal Protection and Data protection . It is one of the most important issues to consider when using any kind of device. As educators we will have an important role and our knowledge on internet safety is essential. Also it must be constinously updated due to rapid changes in internet use and behaviour. Here are some guidelines to keep our navigating space safe We should always be on guard. Some elements to bear in mind are the following to keep track of the security in our devices: 1. Control measures : •Device access: Unlock code, facial recognition, visual pattern, fingerprint. •Shared data: Bluetooth, manage location •Remote in case of theft or loss •External memory 2. Lesson #10 Programming PRIMARY CODE

Image
Primary Code  is a program that helps us explain programming concepts to children in an interactive and visual way. We learned about the following concepts that are essential for any kind of programming activity. Input is what we introduce in the computer (such as typing with the keyboard) and output is the screen (or it could be a pendrive or a printer) displaying, for example, written messages. Variables are what we write on screen as "values". Conditionals , we decide what we want to see happen in the program each time we enter a value. Loops , when we want something to be repeated in a certain way and as many times as we want it to be repeated. Here are some screenshots of how we understand all these elements in Primary Code. 1. For Output and Input , for example we have this one. Since I typed my name in at the beginning, "Sara" comes up when I press on one of the Values that says My name (fruits that are related to concepts-words). The output is then t

Lesson #9 Innovative and Creative Use of Digital Technology: LiveWorksheets and Educaplay

RESEARCHING IN EDUCATION Today we've learned how the world of apps and educational platforms is constantly changing. We can use these apps and platforms to: 1. Tackle a need or problem (our students don't understand some concepts, they get bored just listening, they need to visualize it, etc). 2. Think about whether it is better to solve it with or without technology and and which one entails more benefit than effort.   To find an app/platform, we have to take into account some important criteria: • Cost (free or partially/completely payable). • Difficulty for us to set up and prepare the activity.. • Complexity for students to use. • How it manages student data (privacy). • Reconsider if it actually contributes significantly to our teaching.    Finally, for this lesson we did a group exercise on our Job & Professions topic using a new app or platform that we had to find on the internet and learn how to use: First activity with Live WorkSheets The first activity w
