We learned about concepts such as Web 1.0 and 2.0 as well as the concept of "prosumers". We saw that the internet has evolved from being a static information database in which to begin with there were connections between different personal computers then those who knew how to code were the people who could create and post content on the web (Web 1.0). We have evolved throughout the past 30 years to a more dynamic and participatory way of interacting on the internet in which users can create content (user-generated content (Web 2.0) as well as connect and share more easily and extensively with other users. Here is a chart taken from this website that allows us to visualize this ongoing process.
Social Media would be a three way communication, it allows communication between platforms and users and also communication between users. Resolution has increased as well as internet speed and platforms have features to allow for interaction and multiple communications in many directions.
What comes next? Websites and platforms that bridge the gap between online and offlince reality (Web 3.0 and in the years to come Web 4.0).
We also became acquainted with the term digital identity and digital footprint which basically involves the data that is online regarding a person. As professionals it is something we must take care of as our digital identity is available to many people and it must be used to support us so it should reflect what we are and do coherently and truthfully.
