This is our last lesson and it involves Personal Protection and Data protection . It is one of the most important issues to consider when using any kind of device. As educators we will have an important role and our knowledge on internet safety is essential. Also it must be constinously updated due to rapid changes in internet use and behaviour. Here are some guidelines to keep our navigating space safe We should always be on guard. Some elements to bear in mind are the following to keep track of the security in our devices: 1. Control measures : •Device access: Unlock code, facial recognition, visual pattern, fingerprint. •Shared data: Bluetooth, manage location •Remote in case of theft or loss •External memory 2. Lesson #6 Civic engagement. Theory and PRACTICE

We learned about different platforms in which citizens can participate to an extent in decisions regarding urban planning and budgetary spending... Examples of this are the following:

-Participatory budget. Citizens take part, with the council, in making decisions regarding the goal of council ́s budget allocations.
-Referendum.The decision making responsibility is transferred to citizens, who will be in charge of voting and the proposal that receives the highest amount of votes shall be carried out.
-Civic queries. It consists on gathering citizens' opinions through a series of well-defined questions regarding future public actions or assessment regarding the actions that will be implemented by the authorities.
-Child plenary sessions. It is oriented to encourage democratic participation in the young citizens.

We also learned of the importance of the use of ICT in Public Administration. For example, in Spain we have the Digital Signature (Digital Certificate, Cl@ve) and the electronic identity card (Spanish DNI) to be able to hand in and also download forms and important paperwork to the government or the council. I have recently applied to do an exam to become a civil servant and thanks to my Digital Certificate that is on my computer desktop I was able to do this complex process online without having to go to an Admin office which helped me save a lot of time.

Here are some examples of software that can be used as tools for civic participation (questionnaires, debates, polls, votes, surveys, contests, games, decision making, brainstorming, live polling, etc.)

  • Doodle (https://doodle.com/)
  • GoogleForms (https://www.google.es/intl/es/forms/about/)
  • Kahoot (https://kahoot.com)
  • Socrative (https://www.socrative.com/)
  • Mentimeter (https://www.mentimeter.com)
  • SurveyMonkey(https://es.surveymonkey.com/)
  • TypeForm (https://www.typeform.com/)

Doodle is a polling platform which I am used to using to schedule meetings or assemblies between many members of a group There are different features on it, here is the basic time/date meeting proposal. Green ticks appear when participants can assist. There is also an orange tick between brackets for those who cannot confirm attendance. I chose to share the link with the assistants so they could fill in their availability:

I also created a test on Google Forms that would be an example of an Exam, creating different types of questions (short answers, multiple choice, long answer, etc.). I am sharing both the link to it and the screenshot:

here is an example of two different types of questions:

Finally, we made a question on Kahoot to learn how to use this platform that allows to create live polls but also create questions, games, puzzles, true and false quizzes, etc. This is an example based on our group theme: jobs and professions. I am working specifically on this topic through the history of the Middle Ages:

That was an interesting discovery. I will use Socrative now to see which are the benefits or differences between it and Kahoot for example.
